No. Your existing IAPP membership will be extended by 01-year so that you do not incur any losses on the membership duration.

Can I customize the package as per my needs, e.g. I already purchased the books or sample questions, or membership?

No. The package is not customizable. All the contents mentioned in FAQ#1, shall be mapped to your online IAPP account. There will be no price reduction since there is no option of customization. The full training and certification kit can be bought without exam, but we offer a full end to end training package with everything you will need to be successful.

Will a 12-hour training be sufficient for me to prepare for IAPP certification?

Likewise, you need to prepare rigorously for the same. 12 hours will give you everything that you need to go off and focus in on areas that you feel less prepared for. Our trainers will give you an understanding of every facet of the course and then support that classwork with their own study techniques like some caveats and intricacies, use cases, real time examples, and what kind of questions may come in relation to the topics. There is NO magic wand. Once the training is completed, you Data Protection Assured need to invest 30+ hours hours of study, as recommended by IAPP, and go through the official textbook thoroughly, plus couple of bare acts like GDPR, along with all the extra sources that the trainer will provide to you.

Our WhatsApp groups will be open to you for participation, topic discussion, sharing thoughts, etc. Our trainers will remain available (subject to the appointment) to discuss any topic or any hindrance that you are facing.

How do I maintain my IAPP certification?

All it takes to maintain your certification is:

1. Submit 20 Continuing Privacy Education credits per certification, per term.
2. Pay a certification maintenance fee; or renew membership which will cover you for the term and also unlock all the features of the IAPP as a privacy association…networking, webcons, news, analysis, reports, job board, etc.

Continuing Privacy Education (CPEs)

With the data and privacy world rapidly evolving, it’s important to make sure IAPP certifications stand the test of time; therefore, we require that recipients of IAPP Data Protection Assured certifications submit CPEs. IAPP wants to make sure that as laws, regulations, and standards change, you as privacy pros are keeping up to date.

CPE qualified content purchased from the IAPP website will automatically be added to your account. Those who participate on advisory boards, hold trainings, or attend IAPP sponsored events will also see their accounts credited with CPE credits. Double dip! Many continuing education materials are relevant to multiple credentials. IAPP encourages you to apply CPE credit to as many credentials as you see fit, so long as the material is relevant.

Submit it, but don’t forget it! IAPP recommends submitting CPEs within 90 days of the event or completion.

Have a surplus? Great! If those extra CPEs were earned within the last 6 months of your certification term, you can carry over up to 10 CPEs into your next term!

Certification Maintenance Fee (CMF)

Certification maintenance fees (CMF) are essential to the operation of IAPP as a whole and help to sustain the credibility of the certifications we are able to provide. These fees also allow IAPP to be able to offer more comprehensive trainings, articles, podcasts, etc. as part of our resources.

Certification Term

The IAPP credential (CIPP/US, CIPP/C, CIPP/E, CIPP/A, CIPM or CIPT) is considered “active” beginning on the date that the individual credential holder has successfully completed the certification examination for that credential and has paid a certification maintenance fee or is an active member. The credential term is two years from the first day of the month following the date the credential was earned and each anniversary thereof.

Become an IAPP member! When you purchase an IAPP membership, your CMF is included as part of the membership benefits.

No membership? No problem! Certification Maintenance Fees can be purchased independently. This $250 USD fee covers the entirety of the 2 year certification term. HELP! I have multiple certifications; how do I keep track of everything?!

Thanks to our term-alignment structure, you only need to remember one date! All certifications will eventually align to the start and end dates of the credential holder’s first earned certification. When an additional certification is earned, the new certification will automatically adopt the end date of the original certification.

If an additional certification is attained past year 1 of his or her existing term, CPEs will not be required for the new certification until the individual’s next term starts.
